Immortal

Some people think that Immortal are silly for some reason. Still, I think I have a subtle respect for any band that can make a career out of writing musical weather reports for the Arctic whilst looking like a KISS tribute band. Now, since I never bother to listen to my Immortal CDs, I thought I'd do you guys a favour and seeing as how I have their discography, upload this shit for you. Keep checking back to this post, as it might take me a while to have them all put up for you. Anyway, enjoy!

Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism (1992)

Pure Holocaust (1993)

Battles in the North (1995)

Blizzard Beasts (1997)

At the Heart of Winter (1999)

Damned in Black (2000)

Sons of Northern Darkness (2002)

Blizzard Beasts is a Mediafire link, but Mediafire sound, so don't worry.

Imperial Crystalline Entombment

Frozen spirits of ancient ancestry
Arise in union incestuously
Brother ocean, sister air
Chaotic upheaval I declare!

Artist: Imperial Crystalline Entombment
Album: Apocalyptic End in White (2004)
Genre: Black Metal
Official Site: http://www.imperialice.com/

Surprisingly, Imperial Crystalline Entombment are American, proving that we in the States can still make Black Metal without having to be Norwegian. The group's lyrics are themed on frigid death and winter, and mention of Råvaskeith is mentioned, supposedly a fictional diety being promoted by the band. With band members going by monikers such as Blisserred, Bleak, Icesickkill, and Mammoth, expect a frozen fury of hatred from I.C.E. Great vocals, great overall instrumentality - everything you'd expect from a good Black Metal band. Sadly, I.C.E had to part ways with their recording company, so they are currently unsigned. This is their only album so far, Apocalyptic End in White.

Also, this is the 100th upload to the Stormblog! Congratulations, us, we're amazing!

1. Cryopgenic Communion - (1:00)

Artist:
Anaal Nathrakh
Album: The Codex Necro
Genre: Black Metal
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/anaalnathrakh
Website: http://www.geocities.com/anaalnathrakh/

Probably the best Black Metal act in Britain right now (well, other than Akercocke), Anaal Nathrakh veer away from the genres typical stereotypes to produce music that is raw, threatening, but rooted in this world, and not that of Trolls and monsters.

  1. "The Supreme Necrotic Audnance"
  2. "When Humanity Is Cancer"
  3. "Submission Is For the Weak"
  4. "Pandemonic Hyperblast"
  5. "Paradigm Shift - Annihilation"
  6. "The Technogoat"

December Wolves

Artist: December Wolves
Album: Blasterpiece Theatre
Genre: Black Metal
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/decemberwolves

A slight departure from their second album (which in itself was a massive departure from their debut) December Wolves' third release, Blasterpiece Theatre, is a cold release very far from the black metal roots. Featuring an immense amount of sampling and a machine in the drums spot, it feels like an inhuman release (odd since their previous album was entitled "Completely Dehumanized) Numbers such as Desperately Seeking Satan, Solid Gold Beatings, and To Kill... Again (a remake of a song of theirs from Completely Dehumanized) never cease to spit riff after riff of sheer fury. One of my favorite extreme metal albums.

Tracklist:
1. Warning - 0:45
2. Desperately Seeking Satan - 6:05
3. April Fools Day - 3:31
4. Do Not Entry - 4:30

6. Porn Again Christian - 2:46
7. Public Aquarian Freebase - 6:09
8. Solid Gold Beatings - 3:26

Isengard

Isengard is a Black Metal band from Norway brought to you by Fenriz of Darkthrone. Vinterskugge is a compilation album of his songs since Isengard's creation in 1989. The sound is raw, and the quality isn't that great, but I find that the songs are catchy. Plus, there's a hell of a lot of songs, so you're sure to find at least a few songs that you like.

Tracklist:

Deathspell Omega

O Satan, I acknowledge you as the Great Destroyer of the Universe. All that has been created you will corrupt and destroy.

Deathspell Omega are a black metal band from France. The lyrical content of their music primarily deals with satanism (Black Metal LOL).

Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice was released in 2004 to a big mess of hype and critical acclaim. Their earlier music was raw-as-a-badger's black metal, similar to Darkthrone, but from this release they have taken a more Avant-Garde turn, with influences such as gregorian chant and an improved production.

Fucking listen to it. It's great. I don't even like black metal very much and I love it.

Woods of Ypres

This is a quite superb album by Woods of Ypres, a Ontario based Black/Doom Band. The sounds on the album range from acoustic finger picking to slow-heavy electric guitar with harsh black metal style vocals. Lyrically, Pursuit of the Sun and Allure of the Earth is about Summer, the Earth, the woods, nature, sadness, and despair. their instruments and vocals create an arctic, earthy sound, including a mix of clean and harsh vocals, clean, acoustic, and electric guitars.
Pursuit is the most recent release by this band, though a new one is scheduled for a final pressing at the end of July 2007. This album was released by Krankenhaus records in 2004. There are no particular notes about this album regarding song structure.

Sterbend

Artist: Starbend
Album: Dwelling Lifeless
Genre: Black Metal
MySpace Fansite: http://www.myspace.com/sterbendfans

This is Sterbend. Haunting, cold, grim Black Metal. The guitarwork is raw, the vocals reminiscent of a choo-choo train. The songs are atmospheric and somewhat heavy at the same time. Overall a very good Black Metal release. Suggested for anyone who likes the genre, and even if you don't, this band might change your mind.

Arathorn

Artist: Arathorn
Album: Niemals Kroenender Als Was Einst War
Genre: Black Metal
M-A Page: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3060

This band blows my mind. The atmosphere created by this band in overwhelming. The style is ancient and medieval, reminiscent of walking through the streets during the Plague years, dead bodies strewn across the land. The special thing about this sound is that, unusually, the tremolo-picked guitars lend to the background while the keyboards (sometimes a church organ) take control of the melody. The vocals sound like an elder wiseman weaving a tale of death and sorrow. I recommend this album for anyone who likes Keyboard-oriented Black Metal. Hell, I want everyone to get this. This album is a must-have for anyone's music collection.

Tracklist:
1. in spectren pulsierender todesrinnung
(8:53)
2. O ultima privire asupra luptei din tinuturile Transivaniei
